I wanted to write to tell you how much I have appreciated your talents, efforts, and dedication to your craft over the six years you have been A__’s teacher. When we began, I had interviewed several other teachers and found she was intimidated by their style and expectations. She had enjoyed playing through another program, and we felt she could do a bit more. I was also concerned about fine motor coordination issues, and thought piano might help. From that time forward you have provided a nurturing environment and shared your love of music with her, in a way that encouraged her to try different things without pressure. Your willingness to create piano parties and relaxed recitals let all your students have fun with music. I was especially struck at this most recent recital by your ability to meet students where their interests lie. You moved easily between classical , pop, jazz, and playing by ear—never indicating that one was better than another, but letting each student do what they felt was best for them, and they seemed to be having fun. The most influential teacher in my life has been my piano teacher, Dan Coutu. He has pushed me to try and challenge myself when I play. When I practice a song he pushes me to play with more speed. Another reason is he has encouraged me to practice more at home. He set up a chart for me to keep track of when I was practicing and for how long. Lastly, he has been one of the most kind and understanding teachers I have ever had. H.S. 2018

When I look back to where I was when I was 7, it's crazy to think I have come this far! I can't thank you enough for teaching me how to play and challenging me more and more each year. My favorite songs were Frozen and Maple Leaf Rag, and I am actually writing my college essay on Maple Leaf Rag and how much work it took to play it as a 12 year old, as well as how rewarding it was! -BF 2017

Thank you so much for an incredible 10 years of piano lessons! I've learned so much from you over the years and will always look back at the countless hours at the piano with only fondest memories.
